This Female Hip Hop Dance Team Performs in Hijabs and Slays

We look at a woman in a hijab and we automatically give her an identity, and most often, it’s not even true. No one looks beyond the veil, and no one cares about her interests, her name, what she does—she is only the hijab.

In 2011, Amirah Sackett started an all-woman hip hop crew, called We’re Muslims Don’t Panic, to break the common stereotypes and misconceptions the world has about Muslim women. The crew has performed all over the US, and have even featured in a Brother Ali music video.

Take a look at this amazing crew here.

These women are so much more than just their veils.
